The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center partnered with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region 1 Office to train officials and staff and local development planners on developing PPP projects.  The training was conducted last June 18-19, 2015 in San Fernando City, La Union.

The training aimed to enhance technical skills and knowledge of participants on PPP concepts and processes and provide guidance in developing projects at the local level.

Various local governments in the region also participated in the said training including Paoay and Laoag City of Ilocos Norte, Caoayan of Ilocos Sur, Lingayen, Dagupan City, Urdaneta City and Alaminos City of Pangasinan, and La Union.

“Our office recognizes the vital role of the private sector in fast-tracking economic and social development in the region. Being the main driver of growth, the private sector can fund major programs and projects that can substantially increase investments and generate employment,” said NEDA Regional Director Nestor G. Rillon.

Rillon added that Ilocos Region can greatly benefit from private sector investments given its vast agricultural and tourism potential.

Atty. Romell Antonio O. Cuenca, PPP Center Director for Legal Service, introduced the group to PPP fundamentals and process frameworks from project development to actual implementation. While Kathleen B. Geslani, the Center’s Training Specialist, immersed the participants to topics on PPP project preparation and the procurement process.
