Economic and Financial Literacy Week 2023
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10922 or the EFL Act, the observance of the EFL Week every second week of November of every year aims to develop national consciousness on economic and financial literacy. This is primarily in recognition of the growth potential of the country through financially literate people who make sound financial decisions, mobilize savings, and contribute ideas on improving economic and financial policies and programs.
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center of the Philippines joins the celebration of the EFL Week. As mandated by law, the National Economic and Development Authority leads the participation of government agencies, instrumentalities, and the private sector by planning, initiating, executing, and encouraging knowledge-expanding activities on economic and financial literacy. The overall theme for this year’s celebration is, “Bayanihanomics: Sama-samang Pakikilahok para sa Matibay na Ekonomiya,” a portmanteau of the words “bayanihan” or the Filipino cultural tradition of communal assistance where neighbors come together to help one another achieve a common goal, and “economics.” This aligns with the goal of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2038 to promote collaboration geared towards inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
