Project Brief
Project Description

Envisioned to be a nationwide interoperable automatic fare collection system (AFCS), applicable to all public transportation modes for the improvement of public transport environment, passenger convenience, and the implementation of transfer system among all public transportation modes. The Project will include the following components: (i) Central Clearing System, (ii) Implementation of Metro Manila City Bus AFCS, and, (iii) Distribution of Concession Transit Cards.

Project Objectives

The Project aims to revitalize the country’s transportation sector, especially in urban areas, with hassle-free travels, and other benefits as follows:

  1. Utilizing an interoperable system that will allow commuters to use different methods of payment;
  2. Reducing queueing lines at transit facilities;
  3. Reducing transportation costs with singularly assessed boarding fees in intermodal trips;
  4. Making intermodal transfers more seamless, 5) More transparent accounting of daily revenues for public transport operators and drivers; and
  5. Better collection of mobility-related data that can support transport planning studies.
