ith the Philippines’ rapid population growth, economic development and industrialization in urban areas, the demand for energy is exponentially increasing, and waste generation is continuing to rise to unmanageable levels. Sourcing sustainable and reasonably priced energy and implementing proper solid waste management are key to addressing these challenges. Local government units (LGUs), special economic zones (SEZs), and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) may utilize public-private partnership (PPP) as one of the tools to develop innovative solutions in implementing and/or integrating renewable energy and waste-to-energy in infrastructure and development projects.
Objectives of the Forum
The PPP Center, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will conduct the “Forum on Renewable Energy and Waste-to-Energy PPPs” to promote the PPP framework for these sectors. The forum shall give special attention to the enabling environment, project structure, appropriate training and technology transfer to government agencies, both at the national and local levels.
