The country’s PPP Program secures the full support of the United Kingdom (UK) through a grant targeted to enhance government’s capability building programs for PPP projects.  The PPP Center is the recipient of the UK grant that focuses on building up the proficiency of the various implementing agencies directly involved in the carrying out PPP projects.

“We want to buttress the competency of those managing PPP projects, particularly the implementing agencies. As the lead coordinating agency for PPP projects, we at the PPP Center understand the immediate need for this training. We are optimistic that the skills learned in this exercise will ensure the enhanced performance of those currently undertaking PPP projects,” PPP Center OIC Executive Director Cosette Canilao said.

The three (3) day training on Project Development will specifically cover Project Management, Business Case Development Fundamentals and a workshop on Business Case Development.

The British Government through its British Ambassador to the Philippines Stephen Lillie identified the PPP Center as the recipient of the grant to further strengthening PPP in the country through intensive trainings. The grant is aligned with the UK goal of improving the business environment in Asia with Asia Pacific countries playing an effective role in developing a global framework for a strong, sustainable and balanced growth.

Dubbed as “Supporting Government’s Push for Public-Private Partnerships,” the short term project started in August 26, 2011 and will end on October 31, 2011.

Aside from the UK grant, the PPP center has attracted funding from both the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.
