PPP Center presents rules on processing PPP projects under the new Code

The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center presented the rules on processing PPP projects under the Republic Act No. 11966 or the PPP Code of the Philippines during the Investment Forum: Opportunities in Sustainable Water Utilization and Infrastructure Development held on February 13, 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

In her presentation, PPP Center Executive Director and Undersecretary Ma. Cynthia C. Hernandez discussed the major reforms introduced in the PPP Code, particularly, the evaluation and approval processes of national and local PPP projects, as well as the processes for solicited and unsolicited projects.

“This new law will further enable much-needed development across various sectors of the economy – particularly in physical and social infrastructure and accelerate the delivery of public services necessary for economic growth and socioeconomic transformation”, Undersecretary Hernandez said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Executive Director and Assistant Secretary Jeffrey I. Manalo served as one of the panelists during the event’s open forum. During the discussions, Asec. Manalo highlighted the PPP Center’s commitment to collaborate in addressing issues related to water resources and infrastructure in a sustainable manner.

Around 100 representatives from national government agencies, public and private financing institutions, and international development agencies participated in the event which was organized by the Office of the President, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Finance, and Department of Agriculture.

The forum aims to showcase the Philippine government’s initiatives towards sustainable development and the resolution of several issues facing the water industry.
