The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center was tapped by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as one of the resource institutions during the second day of the Sustaining a Business-Friendly and Competitive Environment in the Metro: A Coaching Session on the Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness (BFC) Indicators on July 4, 2024, at the Ardenhills Suites Hotel, Quezon City.
PPP Center Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Service Assistant Director, Atty. Cyris Ann A. Ng-Santiago discussed the Philippine PPP Program and the Republic Act No. 11966 or the PPP Code of the Philippines and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). In addition, Dir. Ng-Santiago also provided an overview of the solicited and unsolicited PPP processes and the role of the DILG and other institutions in the various phases of a project in the PPP Code.
Participants, composed of 70 technical, legal, and administrative officials from various city government within Metro Manila and the Municipal Government of Pateros, were guided on identifying potential local infrastructure and development projects suitable for PPP. The session also covered classifications of local and national PPP projects and alignment of the PPP Code and its IRR with local policies.
As part of its ongoing commitment to capacitate local government units, the PPP Center has been a part of and has initiated various capacity building activities aimed to build a well-informed network of public servants capable of effectively managing and executing PPP projects and ensuring sustainable development and improved public services across the nation.
