The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center conducted the Introduction to Finance and Basic Financial Modeling Course for the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on March 20-22, 2024 at the PPP Center Board Room in Quezon City.
This three-day activity aimed to capacitate finance and non-finance officers on accounting and financial concepts that will enable them to understand basic terms and principles of financial analysis, financial statement analysis, and the simple time value of money concepts.
BCDA Vice President Erwin Kenneth Peralta from the Conversion and Development Group delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing that the activity is integral to the BCDA’s learning and development initiative. He also highlighted the value of the activity for technical officers and staff, particularly in preparation for future PPP projects.
Director Raphael M. Badillo, and Mr. Aaron Gabrielle M. Tanyag of the Project Development Service and Director John Emmanuel R. Pronto of the Policy Formulation, Project Evaluation and Monitoring Service served as PPP Center resource persons. The three-day course covered financial modeling and data analysis, financial statement analysis, project evaluation topics, and sensitivity analysis, among other topics.
In her closing remarks, Director Feroisa Francisca T. Concordia of the PPP Center’s Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Service expressed her appreciation to the PPP Center’s training team and the BCDA for their active participation, not just in the training activity but also during the stakeholder consultations on the recently signed Implementing Rules and Regulations of the PPP Code of the Philippines. She also highlighted that financial modeling is a powerful tool for ensuring the success of PPPs as it promotes transparency, mitigating risks, and facilitating sound financial decisions for all stakeholders.
