The local government of Marikina City issued the Certificate of Acceptance and Grant of Original Proponent (OP) status to Manila Water Total Solution Corporation, a unit of utility company Manila Water, on July 22, 2019, for its proposal to build and operate an integrated waste management facility to treat and process the solid waste of Marikina City.
The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center assisted the Marikina City in evaluating the unsolicited proposal and will continue providing the necessary support to the City in managing the next stages for the said PPP project.
On April 25, 2019, the PPP Center signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Marikina City to formalize the areas of cooperation and support by the Center for the development of the City’s PPP projects. Under the MOA, both parties agreed to provide a framework for cooperation and coordination with the goal of developing a robust pipeline of PPP projects for Marikina City.
