The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center conducted an online capacity building activity (OCBA) titled Introductory Course on Joint Venture Agreements for the City Government of Cagayan de Oro held on February 21, 2022 and March 2, 2022 via Zoom.
Ms. Eileen E. San Juan, the Local Investments Promotion Officer and Vice Chairperson of the Public-Private Partnership for the People (P4) Selection Committee led the participants composed of technical staff and various department heads of the City Government along with other relevant local PPP stakeholders.
The OCBA, facilitated by the PPP Center together with the Cagayan de Oro Trade and Industry Promotions Center, is part of the City Government’s efforts to continue strengthening its PPP competencies and to further explore PPP implementation options such as Joint Ventures to roll out key infrastructure and development programs in the City.
Cagayan de Oro has shown keen interest and support to the Local PPP agenda with the implementation of several PPP Projects in the City such as the Cagayan de Oro City Slaughterhouse Project and the Cagayan de Oro City New Agora Complex PPP Project.
The OCBA covered discussion topics such as: 1) Joint Venture Concepts; 2) Legal Framework for LGU JVs; 3) JV Process Overview; 4) PPP Center Mandate and Services; 5) Good practices and lessons learned from actual Solicited JVs assisted by the PPP Center; and, 6) Joint Ventures: Questions to Ask. The topics were delivered by resource persons from the Center’s Capacity Building Division, Project Development Service and Legal Service.
