The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has awarded Ayala Land Incorporated (ALI) the public-private partnership (PPP) contract to develop and operate an intermodal transport terminal in Taguig City. The Notice of Award (NOA) was issued to the private partner last November 13, 2015. After issuance of NOA, a contract signing will be scheduled.

The P4-billion Integrated Transport System (ITS)-South Terminal is the second ITS project to be undertaken by DOTC. It will be located in a 5.57-hectare property within the FTI Compound in Taguig City.

During the bid submission last July 31, only two (2) of the four (4) qualified bidders submitted technical and financial bids for the ITS-South terminal project.

Datem Incorporated, Filinvest, Ayala Land, and MWM Terminals of Megawide Construction Corporation and WM Property Management Incorporated were the pre-qualified bidders for the project. But only Filinvest and Ayala Land submitted bids.

ALI submitted the best bid with the lowest annual grantor payment (AGP) of P277.8 million.

“Our goal here is to give passengers coming from the South seamless transfers to other modes of transportation, as well as help decongest traffic in the Metro.” said DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.

The project will connect passengers traveling from neighboring provinces such as Laguna and Batangas to other modes of transport including buses, taxis and jeepneys.

Under a Build-Transfer-and-Operate (BTO) contractual arrangement, ALI will build, operate and maintain the terminal for a period of 35 years.

Construction is expected to start in August 2016 and completed by January 2018. ITS South Terminal is expected to be operational in February 2018.
