Project Description

The project involves the development of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) – Agro-Industrial and Information Technology Park. The development of UPLB SEZ will consist of research & development zones and venues for school activities, recreation services, and other convenience that will provide opportunities for UPLB constituents. It is envisioned to be the preferred destination of locators looking to take advantage of a robust academe industry partnership.

Project Objectives

This Project aims to concretize the scientific and technological innovations of UPLB and initiate its value maximization to contribute to the local economy and developments in the region. Aligned with Philippine national goals, the Project aims to boost productivity and growth of both agri-industrial and IT industries in the region, assist locators to gain competitiveness and generate jobs and livelihood opportunities, facilitate linkages among locators and suppliers of UPLB, optimize academic and research support of UPLB, foster innovation, advance startup and cultivate academe-industry collaboration. It shall focus on building the technological infrastructure with world-class and gender-responsive facilities needed to ramp up the capacity of the agricultural and information technology sectors.
