Project Description

The proposed expressway project is located parallel to the heavily travelled Butuan- Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road (BCIR) specifically along the corridors of the Municipalities of Villanueva and Tagoloan towards the highly urbanized Cagayan De Oro City onwards to Municipality of Opol, Laguindingan to Naawan, Misamis Oriental and vice-versa.

The Project is proposed to be a full-access controlled toll expressway with four lanes and will stretch for an estimated length of 77.8 kilometers (34 km for Phase 1 and 43.8 km for Phase 2), traversing two (2) cities and nine (9) municipalities along the province of Misamis Oriental in the Northern Mindanao Region.

Project Objectives

The objectives of this project are the following:

  1. Decongest the heavy traffic being experienced along Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road (BCIR) from Villanueva to Iligan City in Western and Eastern Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte
  2. Allow efficiency and ease in the delivery of goods from source to destination
  3. Enhance connectivity and development of an efficient transportation network in the Northern Mindanao Region
  4. 4 Provision of tourism development opportunities for various tourist attractions
