Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) is dedicated to advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship through its innovative Net Zero Energy Campus (NZEC) project at the Batac campus. This initiative is centered around reducing carbon emissions and energy costs through cutting-edge energy solutions. At the heart of the NZEC project is a 2 MWp Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System, which converts sunlight into electricity. This system will significantly reduce MMSU’s reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Due to regulatory limitations, the 2 MWp PV system will be split into two separate 1 MWp installations, each under different meters. This ensures compliance while maximizing the generation of clean, renewable energy.
In conjunction with the solar PV system, a 200 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be installed. The BESS will store excess energy produced during sunny periods and provide reliable backup power during outages or when solar production is insufficient. This enhances energy security and ensures continuous power supply, supporting the university’s operational needs.
