The Project aims to construct five (5) independent and distributed Solar-BESS system to improve the reliability, sustainability, and resiliency of power supply in the province of Marinduque. These systems will be constructed in 5 different sites across the province. To ensure reliability of the power supply and electricity production, the independent Solar-BESS shall be composed of distributed solar and battery systems designed to provide a total of sixty four (64) megawatts-peak of solar-powered electricity complemented by a combined one hundred twenty four (124) megawatt-hour DC coupled battery energy storage system.
The main objective of the Project is to provide a more reliable and cost-efficient alternative to consumers and the government by developing a network of independent Solar-BESS facilities using distributed solar and battery systems (the “Solar-BESS System”) that will provide electricity to Marinduque’s grid. Through the development of the Solar-BESS System, the Project Proponent seeks to reduce the subsidy being provided to the consumers of Marinduque’s grid. Further, it will provide a resilient source of electricity that will minimize electricity downtime and will be capable of riding through emergencies caused by extreme weather events such as typhoons.
