Project Description
The Iloilo-Capiz-Aklan Expressway (ICAEx) is proposed to be a full-access controlled toll expressway with four (4) lanes composed of roadways, viaducts, a tunnel and a long-span bridge. The project will stretch for an estimated length of 210 kilometers, traversing 2 cities and 20 municipalities along three (3) provinces (Aklan, Capiz & Iloilo) in Panay Island. The main entry in Iloilo will be located in Barangay M.V. Hechanova in the Municipality of Leganes which is strategically located proximate to the proposed bridge approach of the Panay-Guimaras Bridge. This will provide better access to the expressway for people coming from nearby islands of Guimaras and Negros.
Project Objectives
The objectives of this project are the following:
- Reduction of travel time between the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo
- Elimination of congestion in existing highways by avoiding chokepoints in población areas
- Enhancement of logistics network to ease delivery of goods from source to destination
- Improvement of delivery of emergency response in times of flooding as an effect of inclement weather
- Provision of tourism development opportunities for various tourist attractions in Panay
