MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) – The government today urged local and international construction companies to join in the prequalification bidding for the second phase of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Expressway under the public- private partnership (PPP) program.

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson said interested parties have to submit requirements before Sept. 18.

NAIA Expressway Phase II Project is a four-lane elevated expressway with a total length of 7.15 kilometers, including ramps. The project is estimated to cost P15.52 billion ($370.1 million).

When completed, Singson said it is expected to reduce travel time of going to the country’s premier airport and will benefit some 80,000 daily travelers.
