The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) aims to enhance its partnership with a civil society organization so that programs of government are implemented well.

DSWD-Cordillera regional director Leonardo Reynoso said the role of the CVO is very important in ensuring the efficient implementation of government program.

According to Reynoso,non-government organizations (NGOs), private firms, and people’s organizations (POs) planned for the engagement with the DSWD on various levels particularly the “Bantay,” projects and activities geared toward fighting corruption; “Gabay,” a means for extending technical assistance; “Kaagapay,” or anti poverty projects and activities; “Tulay,” which refers to facilitating action, feedback and monitoring.

The DSWD has defined Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) as a system for cooperation between the two parties for the purpose of delivering basic social services to the poor, implementing development projects of government, and instituting transparency and accountability mechanisms to fight corruption.

“DSWD made a plan on what are the concerns needed to be seen and monitored for the beneficiaries,” said Rogerson Dennis Fernandez, regional information officer of DSWD-Cordillera.

Under the partnership, CSOs will help the DSWD in ensuring that programs and services are well implemented and will also took part in the budget consultation for the DSWD’s programs and services. *(PIO Baguio City/PIA CAR)
