Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario urged Russian investors to invest in public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the Philippines during the 35th anniversary celebration of the Philippine-Russia diplomatic relations.

Del Rosario met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow from March 12 to 14 to make a pitch for the priority PPP projects from various sectors in the Philippines, including infrastructure, tourism, mining, business process outsourcing (BPO), health and agribusiness.

He urged businessmen from Russia to explore business opportunities in the country and establish partnerships with Philippine firms in areas such as trade, defense, disaster preparedness, tourism, culture and education.

In line with that, he shared some measures that would help the Russian businessmen in strengthening their relations with Philippine firms.

He said the Philippine government gives precedence to investments under its flagship program, which is PPP.

He urged the delegates from Russia to enjoy the improved business environment in the Philippines brought by its new set of sound economic policies.

In a statement, Del Rosario disclosed that a group of Russian businessmen is set to visit the Philippines this year to explore more cooperation opportunities with local firms.
