The PPP Center, together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA), turnover the Project Preparation Study (PPS) of the proposed Tri-City Ferry System Project to the beneficiaries, the Cities of Dagupan and Alaminos in Pangasinan, and San Fernando City in La Union.

The PPS was developed through a grant that the CDIA provided to the beneficiary cities.
The turnover was held at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City. The event included a technical presentation of the final report to be followed by a workshop leading to the next steps for the project.

The Tri-City Ferry System Project involves the following:

  • Financing, design and construction of ferry terminals in the Cities of Alaminos and Dagupan, Pangasinan, and floating piers in San Fernando City, La Union for the embarking and alighting of passengers;
  • Operation and maintenance of the three (3) ferry terminals of Alaminos City, Dagupan City and San Fernando City;
  • Provision of ferry services to traverse major demand centers, including maintenance of the vessels, according to industry standards, and existing rules and regulation on sea navigation; and
  • Conduct further marketing and promotional activities and ensure that the facilities constructed harness the cultural and natural wonders of the areas within the loop.

The project aims to decongest the traffic flow in the principal cities, increase the time savings of passengers, and boost the tourism potential of the loop and the region.
