Pre-qualified bidders will have more time to work on their bid proposals for the Regional Prison Facilities as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) pushed the bid submission to April 27, 2017. Prequalified bidders were poised to submit their bid on November 24, 2016.
The announcement was made through General Bid Bulletin No. 25-2016 issued by DOJ’s Pre-Qualifications, Bids and Awards Committee (PBAC) published on November 8, 2016.

The Regional Prison Facilities through PPP Project is the first PPP project for the DOJ and BuCor and the first of its kind in the country.

Local bidders Mega Structure Consortium, San Miguel Holdings, Inc. and DM Consunji, Inc. have all pre-qualified for the Php 50.2 billion project.

The prison facility will be situated in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. The DOJ and BuCor are asking its prospective private partner to finance, design, construct, and maintain the prison facility, with the BuCor having complete control over the operations of the proposed regional prison.
