ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center and the Zamboanga City Government solidified their commitment to collaborate on the development of a robust pipeline of PPP projects for the city through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 8, 2024, at the Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Under the MOU, the PPP Center committed comprehensive assistance to the City, particularly by providing technical advisory services for project formulation and development, and capacity building interventions to ensure a sustainable pipeline of well-prepared PPP projects. The Center will also provide technical assistance to guarantee legal compliance in project transactions, recommend policies, implementation guidelines, and institutional framework for the City’s PPP project working units, aid in assessing funding options such as the use of Project Development and Monitoring Facility, and assign dedicated project teams to oversee the City’s PPP initiatives.
On the same day, Deputy Executive Director Eleazar E. Ricote of the PPP Center also served as a resource speaker and panelist at the LocalLab event titled “Building Future-Ready LGUs: Zamboanga City’s Journey to Sustainability and Liveability”, discussing strategies to strengthen PPPs in communities and improving infrastructure resilience, particularly in the power, energy, and water sectors.
The LocalLab event was organized by the USAID Urban Connect Project, in cooperation with the League of Cities of the Philippines and Globe. The Project aims to promote and pursue inclusive and resilient economic growth in nine (9) secondary cities in the Philippines: Batangas, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and Zamboanga.
