Executive Director Ma. Cynthia C. Hernandez of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center served as key resource speaker during the Build Better More (BBM) Infrastructure Forum, with the theme, “Continuing and Expanding the Golden Age of Infrastructure”, held last 11-13 July 2024 at the National Government Administrative Center, New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac.
The forum’s objective was to engage and collaborate with government communicators and media practitioners to enhance the quality and value of public discourse on the BBM Infrastructure Program (2022-2028), the key flagship infrastructure development agenda of the government.
During her presentation, Executive Director Hernandez highlighted the newly implemented PPP Code and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, outlining essential policies and frameworks designed to stimulate PPPs. She emphasized the strategic importance of PPPs in financing significant infrastructure projects, which are pivotal for the nation’s growth.
“With the new PPP Code, the PPP Center aims to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors, ensuring transparency and efficiency in delivering vital infrastructure projects,” said Hernandez. “This initiative is essential for realizing the Marcos administration’s vision of sustainable development.”
This three-day forum featured presentations from the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation, PPP Center, National Economic and Development Authority, Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, Bases Conversion and Development Authority, Clark Development Authority, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Clark International Airport Corporation, Department of Energy, Department of Information and Communications Technology, National Irrigation Administration, and the Philippine Reclamation Authority, and provided them the opportunity to discuss updates on their flagship infrastructure projects under the current administration. A number of these projects have been identified as PPPs.
The last day focused on ways to leverage digital media for media coverage of infrastructure development, and combat fake news, misinformation, and disinformation on key government programs and projects.
This forum is the third leg of the Bagong Pilipinas Media Engagement and Workshop organized by the Presidential Communication Office. The workshop previously focused on critical areas of food security and national security during its first and second legs in March and April 2024, respectively.
