The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center of the Philippines was invited to share its experience in implementing the Philippine PPP Program during a PPP Strategies Workshop for delegates of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) Ministry of Planning and Investment, held last February 8-9, 2023 at Vientiane, Laos.

The United State’s (US) Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) organized the knowledge exchange.

PPP Center Deputy Executive Director Eleazar E. Ricote expressed how grateful the Center is to share its PPP best practices with its neighbors in the Southeast Asian region.

“We thank the US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program for their upcoming support to the PPP Center and government lawyers and we are humbled by Lao PDR’s interest to learn from us and replicate key features of the Philippine PPP Program’s policy and institutional framework,” Ricote said.

CLDP will support the Philippines through an Executive/Certification Course on Infrastructure Contracts for PPP Center and government lawyers. This is aligned with the recent developments in the legal framework such as the Revised 2022 Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Law and the upcoming PPP Act.
