The PPP Center joined Philippine Economic Managers in conducting the China Roadshow entitled Daylight in the Philippines: Accelerating Progress from April 11 to 13, 2011. The delegation will be in Beijing on April 11-12 and in Shanghai on April 13, where they will hold separate country briefings to present investment opportunities in the Philippines, including the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program.

The Roadshow aims to provide Chinese government officials and investors updates on the Philippines’ key macroeconomic developments and promote the Republic’s economic program and policies to help sustain our growth momentum. Leaders of the Chinese business and investment community will be briefed on the country’s PPP Program and the private-public partnership opportunities in the country—projects shortlisted for roll out in 2011 and projects for medium-term implementation.

The delegation is headed by Secretary of Finance Cesar V. Purisima together with Secretary of Trade and Industry Gregory L. Domingo, Secretary of Public Works and Highways Rogelio L. Singson, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr., Undersecretary of Transportation and Communications Ruben S. Reinoso, Jr., Representative Hermilando I. Mandanas, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center Assistant Secretary Philamer C.Torio.

This visit marks the first formal encounter of the Philippine government’s economic team with their counterparts in China and with the Chinese financial and business community since the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III assumed office on June 30, 2010.

Highlight of the visit is a meeting between the Philippine economic managers with Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan in Beijing. They will also meet with Chinese Ministers Xie Xuren (Finance), Li Shenglin (Transport), Chen Deming (Commerce) and People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan. Representative Hermilando I. Mandanasalso had a schedule meeting with Mou Xinsheng, Vice Chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
