The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center, in partnership with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO), conducted the second part of the hybrid knowledge sharing session (KSS) titled Waste Management Training: Essential elements, business development and PPPs on September 7-8, 2023, at the PPP Center Board Room and online via Zoom.
The activity is part of the agreement between the Philippines and the Kingdom of the Netherlands to support the local PPP development in the country, particularly in the integrated Solid Waste Management (SWM) sector.
In April this year, the first part of the KSS introduced participants to the essential elements of SWM and its various forms and solutions based on international experience, and presented examples of SWM projects, particularly sanitary landfill projects in the Philippines. Meanwhile, the second part of the KSS focused on the environmental, legal, social and economic aspects of waste management, and the business development principles and tools applicable to projects in the SWM sector.
Sixty-six (66) officers and technical staff from various national government agencies, local government units, government-owned-and-controlled corporations, and regional line agencies attended the hybrid KSS.
Mr. Hans Breukelman, a solid waste management expert with more than 30 years of knowledge and experience in waste management and sustainable energy development, particularly in developing countries, once again served as the KSS resource person.
