The Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) Center of the Philippines and the Cities Development Initiative in Asia (CDIA) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 10, 2013 at the PPP Center, Quezon City, Philippines.
The PPP Center and CDIA both share a common objective of assisting cities in the Philippines to link development projects to downstream financing and see the importance of the private sector in playing an increasing role in the implementation of urban infrastructure investments. In particular, both organizations seek to provide advisory services, technical assistance and capacity development to LGUs in PPP project preparation and development.
With the MoU, PPP Center and CDIA aim to:
- Establish their partnership to undertake capacity development activities that will strengthen the competencies of local governments in bridging the gap between their urban infrastructure investment plans and financing;
- Collaborate as partners in supporting cities and municipalities to implement processes and mechanisms to strengthen their urban infrastructure programming and to help address their constraints to access financing of urban infrastructure;
- In doing so, the work carried out under this partnership will uphold the principles of urban environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation and adaptation, urban poverty reduction, and good urban governance in engaging with cities; and
- Where appropriate, will engage with other partner organizations in the capacity development programming and implementation under this MOU.
Signing the MOU were:
Cosette V. Canilao, Executive Director PPP Center; Mr. Jose Emmanuel P. Reverente, Deputy Executive Director; Mr. Eleazar E.
