The observance of the Economic and Financial Literacy (EFL) week every second week of November is mandated by Republic Act No. 10922, also known as the Economic and Financial Literacy Act, and is aimed towards developing a national consciousness on economic and financial literacy.

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) leads the annual celebration of the EFL week.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “E-konomiya: Maingat na Pag-angat“.

The NEDA envisions a healthy and resilient Philippines with financially literate people who make sound financial decisions, mobilize savings, and contribute ideas on improving economic and fiscal policies and programs while navigating the pandemic. This year’s EFLW will highlight how digital transformation can help people cope with the present crisis, support business continuity, and prevent service interruptions in the “new normal”. Together with the strategies under the Updated Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, establishing a digital economy will be crucial for getting the country back on track towards Ambisyon Natin 2040 – the Philippines’ long-term vision of a matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay para sa lahat. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the online discussion using the hashtags #PHDigiconomy and #EFLW2020.
