The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center held the kick-off meeting for the conduct of business case preparation for the Mount Data Lodge Project on September 29, 2021.

Mount Data Lodge, located in Sinto, Bauko, Mountain Province, is a 24-room hotel established in the early 1960s. It is located on a 7.7-hectare land, serving as a stop-over destination for the tourist and travelers to and from Baguio City, to the famous hanging coffins and burial caves of Sagada, and ultimately the World Heritage Site of Banaue Rice Terraces.

The Project involves the expansion, operation, and maintenance of the Mount Data Lodge.

With the recent rehabilitation of the lodge, TIEZA intends to partner with the private sector under a Joint Venture (JV) arrangement pursuant to the TIEZA JV Guidelines (https://ppp.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/20190810_JV_TIEZA_Guidelines.pdf). The business case will explore the different development options to make Mount Data Lodge not only a stop-over hotel for travelers, but also a prime tourist destination by introducing suitable accommodations, amenities, and services to improve the existing facility and better attract tourists to come and visit. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the country experienced a slump in the tourism industry. The Project is envisioned to be part of revitalizing the tourism in the region. Eventually, the Project is expected to contribute not only in the growth of the tourism industry, but also in other business activities in the area.

The business case is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2022. After securing necessary approvals, TIEZA intends to publish the invitation to bid by middle of next year.
