The Public-Private Partnership Center (PPP Center) and Bislig City Water District (BCWD) in Surigao del Sur tapped consulting firm Eptisa Philippines for BCWD’s Water Supply and Septage Project through the Project Development and Monitoring Facility (PDMF).

The PDMF contract for the consultant’s services was signed on November 27, 2020 and covers project preparation and transaction advisory services for the conduct of the feasibility study, project structuring, preparation of bid documents, management of the bid process, and assistance until financial close. The kick-off meeting for the engagement was conducted on December 11, 2020.

The Bislig City Bulk Water Supply and Septage Project aims to provide sustainable potable water supply and proper sanitation to BCWD’s service area and cater further to adjoining barangays. It involves the development of a new water source, construction of bulk water supply facility and its ancillary appurtenances, which will include a reservoir as water storage, and other needed water pipelines from the facilities to the main water pipelines for a specific number of years, among others, establishment of clarifier and filtration gallery to improve the quality of water supply, construction of septage treatment facilities to treat wastewater in compliance with the existing government standards, assessment of the watershed improvement and management measures for water supply sustainability, and the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the project.

The Project is envisioned to mitigate the risks and impact of climate change, such as water crisis, by ensuring the reliability and sustainability of water supply and access to potable water. Alongside this objective, the septage treatment component will be undertaken to ensure proper septage management to cater to the existing and potential service areas.
