The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) turned over the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the Clark International Airport (CRK) to the Luzon International Premier Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp. in a ceremony held at the project construction site on August 16, 2019.

BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon, in his welcome remarks, thanked and expressed his support to the consortium who took on the challenge of running the airport, which he hoped would be the second major gateway to the country.

Meanwhile, LIPAD CEO Bi Yong Chungunco said that air travelers will soon benefit from the improved services, passenger experience, and commercial offerings at the existing terminal.

The Department of Transporta
tion (DOTr) Secretary, Mr. Arthur Tugade, also graced the event and tasked LIPAD to make the airport “glow” and be the envy of not only local airports but international airports as well.

LIPAD takes over the operations and maintenance of the existing passenger terminal building and the new terminal which is currently under construction by Megawide Construction Corp. and GMR Infrastructure Ltd. Both the Clark International Airport Expansion Project and O&M Project are public-private partnerships (PPPs).

The expansion project is set to be finished by 2020 and expand the airport capacity from 4.2 million passengers annually to 8 million passengers.

LIPAD is composed of JG Summit Holdings, Inc.; Filinvest Development Corp.; Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions, Inc.; and Changi Airports Philippines Pte. Ltd.
