Prequalification conference for Baggao WSP

The Municipal Government of Baggao in Cagayan Province is inviting interested bidders to the Pre-Qualification (PQ) conference of the Baggao Water Supply Project (BWSP) project which will be held on January 23, 2018 at the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPPC), 8/F One Cyberpod Centris, Eton Centris, Piñahan, Quezon City. The project’s invitation to prequalify and bid was published in newspapers last Dec. 22, 28, 2017 and January 4, 2018.

Currently, majority of the households in Baggao get their water through individual shallow wells. Water from shallow wells are prone to contamination from nearby runoff and pollutants and are generally considered less potable than their deep water counterparts. When built, the BWSP will provide 24 barangays with a level 3 water supply. This means that households in Baggao will have clean, potable water sourced from a reservoir which will go through a piped transmission and distribution network with adequate treatment facilities and household taps. Also included in the project is the installation of all required equipment and related facilities.

The PhP 84 million water project is the latest solicited PPP project under the country’s PPP program. It will be structured as a Design-Build- Operate-and-Transfer and will be going through a competitive two-stage public bidding process under the BOT Law.

Once awarded, the winning bidder will finance, design and construct the water supply facilities, including bulk water source, storage facilities, and transmission and distribution lines.

The private firm will also operate and maintain the facilities over a 25-year concession period.
