The Department of Education has opened last 30 July 2013 the technical proposals of the three firms who submitted their bids for the second phase of the PPP for School Infrastructure Project (PSIP). The three (3) firms include the BSP & Co. Inc. -Vicente T. Lao Constructors consortium, BFEFI-2 Consortium, and Megawide.

All three bidders submitted a complete set of documentary requirements for technical proposal. Evaluation of which is now on-going; and DepEd aims to open the financial proposals by next week, after the bidders pass the technical and mock-up evaluation.

Following the success of the PSIP Phase-1 which involves the construction of 9,301 classrooms, the PSIP Phase-2 involves the designing, financing, and constructing one-storey and two-storey classrooms, including furniture, fixtures, and toilets in various public schools nationwide. It will adopt a turn-key or Build-Transfer scheme.

The project is a significant contribution to DepEd’s goal of zeroing out the classroom backlog in the public school system. It also complements other education programs of the government, such as the K to 12 and the massive teacher hiring program that the Department is currently rolling out.
