Another PPP project gets off the ground with five (5) firms vying to operate and maintain a state of the art contactless-based smart card ticketing system to collect fares from passengers of the LRT Line1, LRT Line 2 and MRT trains operating within the Metro.

Bidding for the Php 1.2 billion Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) project of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) are pre-qualified bidders AF Consortium, SM Consortium, Comworks, Inc., E-Trans Solutions Joint Venture, Inc. and Megawide-Suyen-Eurolink Consortium.

The new contactless common ticketing system will help commuters experience seamless travel around Metro Manila making it more convenient since a card holder can shift from riding one train to another using only one card.

DOTC’s PBAC will release its evaluation of the technical proposals after 20 days. The financial proposals on the other hand will be opened on December 9, 2013.
