Fostering Universal Health Care through PPPs

With the signing of President Rodrigo R. Duterte on February 20, 2019, the Philippines has now enacted the Universal Health Care Act. In support of the government’s objectives under this legislation, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center of the Philippines, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will conduct a PPP Forum in the Health Sector, with the theme “Fostering Universal Health Care through PPPs”

Objectives of the Forum

  1. To have a clear understanding of the Philippine government’s objectives in pursuing Universal Health Care;
  2. To identify the challenges faced by the public sector in delivering Universal Health Care;
  3. To enable participants to understand how PPPs can be effectively utilized to achieve the goals of Universal Health Care;
  4. To determine issues related to PPPs that policymakers have to consider in drafting the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Universal Health Care Act, local government unit (LGU) ordinances and other related policy instruments; and
  5. To understand how the PPP Center can support implementing agencies pursuing PPPs in the health sector.
