The Guide to Sleeping in Airports, a travel website, ranked MCIA and Iloilo Airport 16th and 18th, best in Asia, respectively.

“We are very happy and very proud that Iloilo Airport is again on the list,” said Helen Catalbas, Western Visayas regional of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Located in the towns of Cabatuan and Sta. Barbara, the Iloilo Airport caters to on average of 2.8 million passengers per year with both domestic and international flights.

In 2017, the Iloilo Airport outranked all Philippine airports in the same list when it ranked 12th. At that time, three other Philippine airports were in the list. These were MCIA, the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao and the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

In comparison to MCIA, the Iloilo Airport is relatively new as it only opened in June 2007. This was after the more than 50-year-old airport in Iloilo City was closed as it was too small for the growing number of flights.
