House Committee on Appropriations chairperson and Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co has expressed his elation over the interest shown by the business sector in the proposed establishment of UP-PGH Cancer Center.

“We are elated that the UP-PGH Cancer Center PPP (public-private partnership) Project is moving forward through the Phase 2 process just several weeks after the NEDA Board gave its approval,” Co said.

According to reports more than 60 local and international companies have expressed interest in the Cancer Center project.

The UP-PGH Cancer Center project will have a 30-year Build-Transfer-Operate timeline and has an estimated project cost of up to P6 billion.

Co said the UP-PGH Cancer Center will have up to 300-bed capacity, half of which will be allocated for charity patients.
