CEBU CITY—Two development projects at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) were inaugurated Wednesday.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Dino, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Jim Sydiongco Sydionco, and Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia graced the inauguration of the MCIA’s new taxiway and CAAP administration building.

The extended taxiway is expected to increase passenger traffic and aircraft movement in the general aviation area of the MCIA.

This will likewise accommodate wide-body aircraft in preparation for future expansions.

The administration building which is a two-story building will house various facilities of the agency. The completed building will enable CAAP personnel to extend efficient service and further provide comfort to its stakeholders.

Before the twin inaugurations at MCIA, Tugade also led the inauguration of the new passenger terminal building (PTB) of the Calbayog Airport in Samar.

Calbayog Airport’s new PTB, which can now accommodate 450 passengers, increasing the 76-passenger capacity of its old terminal.
