MANILA, Philippines – The Bulacan Bulk Water Supply (BBWSP), awarded as a public-private partnership (PPP) project in 2015, has been shortlisted for the Global Water Awards for Water Deal of the Year by a UK-based business magazine, the PPP Center said.

The decade-old water deal award given by the publication Global Water Intelligence recognizes significant achievements in the international water industry that move the sector forward through improved operating performance, adoption of innovative technology and sustainable financial models.

The awarding ceremony will be held at the Global Water Summit, a major business conference for the water industry worldwide, in Madrid, Spain on April 24.

BBWSP was awarded to Luzon Clean Water Development Corp. (LCWDC), a consortium comprised of San Miguel Corp. (SMC) and Korea Water Resources Corp.

The contract involves the financing, detailed project design, construction, operation and maintenance of the bulk water supply system.

BBWSP, which entails the development of new water source, will provide treated bulk water to the various water districts (WDs) of Bulacan to help meet the increasing water demand of its consumers, expand its current service area coverage, and increase the households served.
