MANILA, Philippines — British construction and professional services firms are visiting the country to explore business opportunities in infrastructure developments, including the huge projects under the Public Private Partnership program of the government.

Trade and Industry Undersecretary Cristino L. Panlilio told reporters the British construction companies are part of the first batch of British inbound mission starting today until Wednesday this week and the second batch on December 6 and 7 this year.

“They are going to attend a briefing on the country’s investment opportunities of the Board of Investments on the first day, a seminar with the Asian Development Bank on how to secure infrastructure contracts in Asian on the 15th and a presentation of the country’s PPP program and projects on the 16th,” Panlilio said.

The 17-man investment mission is the result of Panlilio’s earlier trip to London where he negotiated with the Ministry of Trade of Great Britain to send a business mission to the Philippines.

The mission members include Andrews & Wykeham, ARUP, Ashurt, Atkins Global, Gammon Construction, Halcrow Infrastructure, March Publishing, security and fire systems integrator Pointer Ltd., SERCO, HSBC London and law firm Baker & McKenzie.

Andrews & Wykeham is a British company supplying security solutions for ID, banknote, document security and brand protection markets.
