MANILA, Philippines — AF Payments Inc., a consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MIPC) and Ayala Corp. that is behind tap-and-go payment system beep card, is teaming up with BPI to make reloading more convenient for its users.

AF Payments said users would now be able to reload their beep cards straight from their BPI account as a reloading option has been made available via BPI Online and the BPI Mobile app.

“Convenience is the key benefit we emphasize for beep. As Filipinos become more mobile and increasingly go cashless, we see more opportunities to make our services more accessible to our cardholders. Using the BPI Mobile app or BPI Online, you can now top up your beep™ card anytime, anywhere,” AF Payments marketing head Agnes Padilla said.

AF Payments said a standard service fee of P10 would be charged for every beep loading transaction regardless of amount.

Users will simply have to input the 16-digit number found at the back of the beep card under reference number and enter the load amount in their BPI Mobile app or via BPI Online.

Once the transaction is successfully completed, the cardholder may proceed to any beep e-load station at LRT-1 stations, select bus terminals, and other locations to update the card balance.

The beep card is a tap-and-go payment card used in all three elevated railways (LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3) and select PUVs, tollways, and retail partners. It is reloadable and valid for four years.

AF Payments chief executive officer Peter Maher said the company is constantly looking for ways to make reloading convenient for cardholders.

Last February, AF Payments signed an agreement with Justpayto Philippines Corp., a money remittance platform company licensed and regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, to create a simple to use web platform that allows commuters to reload their beep cards online.

AF Payments is a provider of contactless payment solutions in the country through its integrated product and service offerings.

The Ayala-MPIC consortium won the permit to operate an automated fare collection system as a public-private partnership project in 2013.
