SUC Execs explore PPPs

A total of 30 presidents and chancellors all over the country were introduced to the concepts and processes on public-private partnerships as part of the curriculum of the Philippine Higher Education Career System (Phil-HECS) Executive Development Program (EDP). The EDP is administered by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in cooperation with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP). This special course on PPPs entitled “Leading a Globally Competitive Higher Education Institution” is a two-day session held under the Administration and Financial Management Learning Area conducted by PPP Center Deputy Executive Director (DED) Eleazar E. Ricote.

As part of the PPP workshop, PPP Center DED Ricote conducted a mini-project development workshop for their PPP project ideas. He added that these proposals will be further refined and submitted to their respective boards for consideration. The proposed PPP projects included those that will enhance their community’s infrastructure needs, developments on research, and improvements on extension work.

The PPP Center encourages the various Implementing Agencies such as national and local government units, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Government Owned, and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) to take advantage of the training sessions conducted by the PPP Center as part of its capacity-building program. These will equip them in developing PPP projects that are feasible and well-structured.
