The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and winning consortium, MWM Terminals, signed the concession agreement of the Integrated Transport System (ITS)-Southwest Terminal public-private partnership (PPP) project last April 24. This is the ninth (9th) awarded and signed PPP project under the Aquino administration.

Present in the ceremonial signing at the DOTC office were Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya, MWM Terminals representative, Megawide Chief Marketing Officer Louie Ferrer and PPP Center Executive Director, Cosette V. Canilao.

The PHP 3.15 Billion (contract cost plus government premium) ITS-Southwest Terminal was awarded to the MWM Terminals, a consortium of Megawide Construction Corp. and WM Property Management Inc., last January 23, this year.

This terminal PPP project will be constructed in a 4.59 hectares site southwest of Metro Manila at Philippine Reclamation Authority property beside Asia World/Uniwide along Coastal Road, Parañaque City. After completion, commuters from the south coming from Cavite and other parts of Batangas, will utilize the terminal to transfer to other public transports that travel to inner Metro Manila.

Under the Build-Transfer-Operate PPP structure, MWM Terminals will undertake the design, construction, and financing of the ITS terminal as well as the operation and maintenance of the whole facility which include passenger terminal buildings, arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage handling facilities, and park-ride facilities. The project has thirty-five year concession period inclusive of eighteen-month construction period.
