The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center conducted a two-day orientation workshop for the Department of National Defense (DND) last July 13-14, 2015 at Camp Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Around eighty (80) enlisted and civilian personnel of DND were capacitated to have a better understanding of PPP concepts and processes. The participants came from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) General Headquarters, Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Navy.

“We hope that this orientation workshop would help us develop a pool of in-house experts who can identify strategies, such as PPPs that can generate the necessary resources to modernize the AFP,” said Brigadier General Jose Tanjuan, Jr., AFP’s Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.

Several projects aimed to modernize AFP under the DND-AFP Integrated Business Plan were presented for their potentials to be undertaken through the PPP arrangement.

PPP Center officials in attendance include Deputy Executive Director Eleazar Ricote, Atty. Romell Antonio Cuenca, and OIC-Director Fidel Udarbe. Mr. Prakash Rao, ADB international consultant, presented experiences of UK, Australia, Canada and India in implementing PPP projects in the defense sector.
